Church weddings (Holy Matrimony) have that bit extra, a spiritual dimension which makes it a day to remember, a special day.
You’ll want everything to go smoothly, so see the Vicar or Rector well beforehand! In some cases a year or so will be necessary, church weddings are popular! Discuss the various wishes you may have such as the hymns to be sung, banns to be read or whether you will need a special marriage licence (only for those who do not live in the parish or who come from abroad).
Flowers will be the couple’s responsibility, as tastes vary so much, but we may be of help with the arrangement. Be on time because you do not want to overlap with the next wedding!
We do not object to videos being made but be as discreet as possible and do not use bright lights during the ceremony, a tripod will be handy as walk-abouts are not possible during the ceremony. If video is used you will have to obtain a licence from a relevant authority such as MCPS or CCL (The Mechanical Copyright Protection Society or Church Copyright Licensing - bodies set up to protect artist’s copyrights). They have web-sites on which you can apply for the licence (print a copy for your records). Photographs cannot be taken during the ceremony, but may be taken before or after the service. The church interior itself is quite photogenic!
Finally, enjoy yourselves and may the Lord bless you and keep you now and for the rest of your lives together.
